Levelthree Solves Technical Challenges with Order Management Application

Challenge
Medtronic challenged the technical operations of the Levelthree Solutions "gateway" order approval process. The problems facing Medtronic were fundamental. If an "exception order" was placed that did not fit standard order criteria it would be pulled from the queue and require an agent to literally assess the order line by line, SKU by SKU, creating time management and core competency disasters. An agent would then compare the request to the inventory in stock and determine whether or not the order could be filled, again SKU by SKU. This labor intensive approach caused costly delays and pulled employees from their core competency.

Solution
The Levelthree Solutions Product Fulfillment Team embraced the challenge from Medtronic as an opportunity to provide our customer service expertise with responsive and imaginative solutions. To solve the problem with minimal impact on Medtronic's standard operating procedures, Levelthree began to re-write the "behind the scenes" code to enhance the functionality of the Medtronic "gateway." Medtronic is now capable of placing an "exception order" without disrupting the order approval process. The order is recognized as an "exception order" prior to entering the queue. Then, in real-time communication with Levelthree's warehousing facility software, the order is assessed, approved, and processed according to real-time inventory and stock level monitoring. This new order management application eliminates the potential for costly delays and streamlines the product fulfillment process with efficiency. This structure provides for a repeatable, reliable, and scalable practice that eliminates the possibility of human error. To top it off, the order management system ensures "next day service," so that all orders ship by the next business day, at the very latest.
